Vita Coco Coconut Oil

Coconut oil has been one of those tings that has slowly become ever more popular. But it’s also been an old staple of mine that I’ve used since childhood. I remember my mum being adamant that I used coconut oil on my hair every weekend when I was younger. Coconut oil, however, has so many benefits, that can prove to be beneficial to your health. It is so versatile to use, and easy to get hold of.

I recently purchased this Vita Coco Coconut Oil tub from Amazon for £8.50 (!). How amazing is that price? Coconut oil is the new “it” ingredient to use for so many things, and there are many people who swear by the benefits. So if you’re thinking of heading to your local health shop, or putting through your order online, you can be sure to have several uses for coconut oil. So here it is, The Benefits Of Coconut Oil. Skin Care : Coconut oil acts a natural skin conditioner, so if you ever find yourself running out of moisturizer, or if you’re thinking of something new coconut oil is a perfect substitute. Coconut oil, when rubbed in completely, can penetrate through and is great to use in the summer to protect against sun damage. All you need to do is rub your hands into the coconut oil to heat it up with your body temperate, and moisturize it into your skin.

Hair Care : Coconut Oil can help provide the essential nutrients for your hair. So forget all the advertising campaigns from big brands for shampoo and conditioner, grab some coconut oil. It can be used exactly the same as moisturizer as a leave in conditioner, or take a table spoon full and heat it up for 30 seconds in a bowl. This is exactly how my mum used to put coconut oil on my hair when I was younger. She would massage this into my scalp, and put the rest on my roots. It left my hair feeling shiny, manageable and like silk! Coconut oil can help prevent dandruff and help hair growth – so no more extensions, and hello long hair!

Stress Relief : Just do the above, massage warm coconut oil into your hair. The aroma from the coconut oil will help relieve stress and to also reduce it, even after it’s washed out of your hair. You can also rub this in as a moisturizer to help review stress. Sometimes I apply a bit of coconut oil to my temples and give myself a mini massage. I feel so much better afterwards, and it helps to relieve my migraines.

Natural Make Up Remover : I have combination skin so sometimes have areas of dry skin on my face, and therefore it can be really difficult to find products that suit my skin type. A lot of products state that they are for combination skin, by really aren’t. What I’ve started doing is taking some cotton wool, circling this around my tub of coconut oil and using this as a make up remover. It’s really effective and can remove even waterproof mascara, whilst moisturizing at the same time.

Cooking Oil : Coconut Oil can be used as an alternative to cooking oil or sun flower oil. A little goes a long way with this stuff, so you need the tiniest amount to replace cooking oil. It is so much healthier for you, and has a great taste to it without overpowering your dish.

Coconut Oil has so many benefits and uses, so it’s really worth investing in a tub. Have you found any other uses for it?
