The best cinnamon brownies recipe out there*

Who doesn’t love cinnamon brownies? I don’t know about you but when it comes to this time of the year I think of sweet treats. Cakes. Mine Pies. Baked goods. I am forever looking at new recipes that I can make my own, and incorporate different ingredients within.

Brownies are no exception. Brownies are one of the simplest baked goods to play with. I’ve teamed up with Schwartz to bring you one of THE best cinnamon brownie recipes. Think – gooey in the middle, but crunchy on top. Perfection.

To make the brownies the instructions are fairly straight forward, you don’t need any baking skills whatsoever. The ingredients needed are:

115g butter
130g chocolate chips (you can use dark or milk. I opted for milk)
150g sugar
75g brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
Dash of salt
2 small eggs
80g plain flour
20g cocoa powder
Schwartz cinnamon powder

  1. Preheat the oven to 180c, and line your baking tray with parchment paper. I like to get this out the way to begin with
  2. Add all the butter and the chocolate chips to a mixing bowl, and melt this mixture in the microwave. It should take about 2-3 minutes on full power.
Give it a good stir once done.
  3. Carefully add the two sugars, vanilla extract and the dash of salt and stir this together. The sugar should melt slightly into the butter mix.
  4. Break the eggs into the mixture and stir this in. Then stir in the cinnamon. I used around 2 teaspoons of the cinnamon which was the PERFECT amount.
  5. Add the flour bit by bit into the mixture. I stirred this over the sink because well, I’m messy. Add in the cocoa powder and fold it in.
  6. Scoop out the mixture into your baking tray and bake for 3-40 minutes. You’ll know it’s baked through when pricked with a toothpick and it comes out clear.
  7. Leave to cool before devouring.

Honestly this recipe has made the most gorgeous brownies, they’re so gooey and give that perfect crunch. The cinnamon just adds to the festive feeling, and is perfect for the winter months. It’s such a versatile spice, you can use the cinnamon in sweet or savoury dishes.

You can pick up the Schwartz cinnamon at your local supermarket such as Tesco.
