Cookbook | Easter Carrot Cake Recipe

Carrot cake

Easter is finally upon us, and I am fairly certain it’s everyone’s second favourite holiday! And not because of the bank holidays! Easter is such a perfect mid-year holiday to spend time with your family and cook some beautiful food. I’ve put together such a comforting, moist carrot cake which is ideal to bring the family together as a perfect addition to a lay up meal.

Baking is so relaxing, and this is great to bake on Good Friday morning – whilst everyone is having a lie in or getting ready to go out. The smell will fill your home, think freshly baked bread, and it is the definition of yum. It has an American feel to the carrot cake, and is ever a popular cake to eat. So here it is, my Easter Carrot Cake Recipe.

Wedding Diaries | Let’s talk venues Part 1 #2

Venue

I am literally so excited! Our wedding has finally been booked! Trust me when I say this, it has taken us forever to find the perfect venue, and it’s one of the most important decisions you will need to make (after finding a special date of course). A few of the venues that we have looked at had initially fit our requirements, but when it comes down to meeting a sales manager, they only really tell you what you want to hear. Most of the time it’s false promises, unfortunately. Looking back now at all the places we did view, there was so many elements missing from the venues. My one bit of vital advice, for when you are picking a Wedding venue, is to really look around, do your research, and always read the small print (cliche I know)! There are so many places out there, and you really need to look at the bigger picture. Don’t just book the first place you see, as I fell into this schoolgirl error trap, and it had a huge impact on the entire Wedding planning. Although your heart may think the venue is “the one“, it may all just be a facade. So this time on Wedding Diaries, we are talking venues.

Click N Curl | My Hair Nightmare

Click N Curl

For as long as I have known, I have struggled to get my hair to have any sort of volume to it. I’ve endlessly flicked through magazines at celebrities and models with gorgeous bouncy curls, and hair that was so full of volume. All in all, my hair stays straight. Plain, standard, straight. Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with having naturally straight hair, if that’s the look you want. But me, I’ve always experimented with my hair and tried out new hairstyles. So when Hair & Whiskers offered me their Click N Curl* barrels to try out, I jumped at the chance . Easily achievable, bouncy, loose flowing curls with the added volume – what did I have to lose? Little did I know, it was going to be at a big cost to my locks

Wedding Diaries | To Indian Wedding Or Not? #1

Mandap

It’s been almost a year now since my fiance proposed to me, and the wedding plans are pretty much in full swing at the moment. Before you ask, no we are not getting married this year. More so, next year. Yes – I know what you may be thinking, isn’t it way too early to be planning the wedding? Maybe, for some traditions. But when you are talking about two Hindu families being bought together, and all the festivities that take place for our special day, some would say a year is leaving it too late! Knowingly, there a lot of Asian couples start planning almost two years in advance for their big day. So I like to think I’m being some-what laid back about our plans. And certainly avoiding the curse of becoming a bridezilla! In the first edition: to Indian wedding or not.
